First soak the gelatin in 1/4 cup of water, then make the hot custard base, over a double boiler is fine, then after it has cooked and thicken, you add the melted gelatin to the hot/warm custard base, chill covered until just barely warm then fold in the whipped cream, set into a mold or spoon into gles to serve individually, if your adding fruits like strawberries, raspberries or other types add them with the gelatin, before the chilling and whipped cream
