Why would anyone even consider teaching Creationism and ID?

Creationism and ID rest on a premise which can't be empirically tested, therefore it doesn't deserve consideration because science is only about what's observable, not stupid speculations. Sure there's a lot of things science doesn't know, but they know far more about evolution then they do about things like the missing 90% of the m of the universe and where cosmic rays (atomic nuclei traveling at relativistic speeds) come from. It always struck me as odd how in the one area religion would pick a fight with science it's where science has all the cards and religion has nothing. Go figure.
